Street photography in Singapore is rapidly gaining popularity, with several communities sprouting up on Facebook. What defines street photography? An abridged version of an attempt to explain it would look something like this: people + candid situations + public places. Aik Beng Chia once mentioned that the beauty of street photography is to capture the natural essence at that point of time. Rather than be overly concerned about the technicalities of a photograph, it is still better to first capture the emotions.
We have been wanting to feature the works of cousins Adrian and Sherman for the longest time. It's been such a while that I cannot even seem to remember how I first came across their works, and for this I sincerely apologize. Both cousins are keen practitioners of street photography, pocketing moments they steal off the streets, curating the moments and allowing for a more comfortable instance of 'people-watching'.
So take a moment, and 'people-watch' through the eyes of Adrian and Sherman.
To all nostalgia lovers and those who liked our previous post on Thieves' Market, we are bringing the spotlight onto someone who has been following the developments of the market and hopefully from his insight, we can learn more about, possibly the last junkyard sale in Singapore.

Currently away representing our nation in Korea for the 2011 World Percussion Performing Arts Festival, Rhythm De Pasión comprises of individuals from different walks of life and a variety of musical backgrounds. Through their infectious beats and energetic performances, it is no wonder that the band has made a name for themselves in the local music scene.
As Singapore takes to the polls again tomorrow, we take a moment to reflect on the (almost?) watershed General Elections'11. It has been an exciting year for us as a country, and for us as a generation.
Today, we speak to Zakaria Zainal (or Zak, as he commonly goes by) and Jean Loo. Both Zak and Jean are alumni of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication & Information (where the RediscoverSG crew are finishing their final year of undergraduate studies), and contributors to GE11: We Were There, a 60-page magazine featuring photos of the General Elections 2011 done in collaboration with Platform, a volunteer photographer group.
We talk to them about the GE11 project, their experiences as young independent creatives, and suss out some advice for young, aspiring Singaporeans who may be considering the freelance route upon graduation.

To those unfamiliar with it, Instagram Singapore is a local community made up of Singaporean Instagrammers who have come together to spread and share their love of photography through the eyes of an iPhone.
