The good people at YourSingapore sent the crew at RediscoverSG some goodwill in the form of tickets to the annual street extravaganza, Chingay Parade Singapore 2011.
Held within the 15 days of the Lunar New Year period, the Chingay parade’s history stretches to as far back as ’73. That was incidentally to address the issue of the dampening of the festive mood due to the firecracker ban the year before. Since then, the annually street parades are always a sight to behold.
Lizzy and myself had passes to this year’s street extravaganza. We were treated to a visual and aural feast. Pom-poms and digital cameras were thrust into our lenses, but we persevered in the documentation. The sound recordist (myself) went a little dumb and hence the mixing is as such. Other than that, please enjoy as RediscoverSG brings to you the sights & sounds on Saturday, 12th February, the Singapore Chingay Parade 2011.
